American Jazz Festivals
Here on this post you will find some of the best American Jazz festival's. Some I have attended and some of the festivals are form a reliable source (word of mouth). So sit back and relax and let me take you on a festival journey that will have you dancing in your shoes.
First I would like to talk about the New Orleans Jazz festival. This is one of the most important Jazz festivals in the America. This is where it all started, New Orleans is the birth place of jazz music. The festival in New Orleans is diffilently one of the best jazz festivals we have to offer.
Sorry to say this festival is no longer there, but I have hope that it will return and I hope soon!
Global festivals.
One of the best global festivals around is the
W.O.M.A.D festival. (World of Music arts and Dance). I went to the Reading (Reading, England just outside of London) festival about 3 years ago and was blown out of the water with this festival. This is the festival I have dreamt about for many years and, here I'am in the mist of it. I could not believe my ears and eyes.
If you like the world music sound then you will love this festival. I was just walking around the festival with this big grin on my face just enjoying the sounds and smells of the world. I was truly in my zone here my moment my zen for life. I heard everything from Indian, Mali, celtic, tuval, Cosmic too deep trip house beats being played all over the festival grounds. You will also find food from all over the world being prepared and served. Your taste buds will just explode with excitement!
The amazing thing about this festival is that even little kids age 8 & 9 know a lot of the groups that attend these festival. Now that to me was impressive. I know for a fact that in America we know nothing of these groups( if it's not Rap Pop or Rock) and exspecially little kids. It was a pleasant surprise to see little kids with so much musical culture in their blood. I can relate to this because I grew up this way also.
Festivals in Lithuania.
I have only visited Lithuania once, but I had a great time getting to know the people there. They have a Jazz fesitval called the
ViniusJazz festival. The City of Vinius is a very quiet place with it's old age eastern feel to it. I do remember that the town had the Black Madonna in the church. I also remember that the market place had many different types of Amber.
They had Black ,White and Yellow Amber also. Listen I mean they had Amber, and lots of it. So I ask someone why and they told me that it comes from the Baltic sea. So yes I was in the area where Amber comes from. I didn't know this until then. I brought back so many pieces that I end-up giving most of it away. We had a great time there, we went inside the city and discovered many interesting things about the City. I only had two days to discover this also. But the festival was great and the music was one-of-a-kind. It's a remote part of the world, but thats the beauty of it.
Festivals in Finland.
The Pori Jazz festival is one of those festival that you will fall in love with. It has a charm all by itself, with over 130,000 people attenting this festival you will feel the inspiration. The last time I attended this festival James Brown was there along with the group Zap Mama. You feel safe and you will have alot of fun here, thats what I like about jazz festivals and that is you
Feel Safe!To me that is worth more then anything today. Feeling safe in a crazy world. When I say this I think I'm speaking for just about everyone that travels. After you have gone thur the airports and the Taxi ride, you want to go somewhere safe and this is the place (the comfort zone). So just sit back and enjoy some great music and have a drink on me. You'll be glad you did!
